Flying to Greece on Emirates ✈️

This was the second part of my travel journey to Greece, and honestly, it might have been my favorite part — because I LOVE flying with Emirates Airlines.

They have the coolest planes and the most delicious food. I’m not kidding: I would actually order their meals at a restaurant. It’s way beyond the scope of standard airline food.

And I’m not even in the fancy lie-flat seats you see all over social media with little doors that close. Nope. I’ve only ever flown economy — and it still feels like an upgrade compared to economy on any other airline.

The Only Annoying Thing About Emirates: Carry-On Rules 🎒

Literally the only thing that throws me off is that you’re allowed one carry-on in total. Only one personal item — no backpack and carry-on suitcase combo, even if you plan to put the backpack under the seat.

I usually travel with:

  • one carry-on suitcase

  • one backpack

  • and sometimes a tiny purse/pouch for my wallet, phone, and passport

So I always have to do a little rearranging before an Emirates flight.

My solution: I put my backpack inside my suitcase, and then once I’ve boarded, I pull it out so I have easy access to everything I’ll want during the flight.

The struggle is real though.

I’ve finally become a good packer (proud of that growth), so I bring fewer items — but I still want a setup where I can reach my things easily without digging through a suitcase in the middle of the flight. And at the same time, I don’t want a giant backpack on my back in a hot, crowded airport in a foreign country when my gate is approximately eight miles away.

Maybe I should go old school and get one of those rolling school bags again. 😂

The Almost-Empty Row That Got Snatched at the Last Second

I boarded the flight, and I was SO CLOSE to having the whole row to myself. It was looking dreamy.

Then, literally seconds before the gate closed, the last passengers onto the plane came straight to my row.

UGHHH.

It was not looking promising… until the person originally assigned to the middle seat switched to an empty seat in the row behind me.

Middle seat empty = instantly more comfortable.

But still — how does the very last person on the flight end up in my row? 😭

Honestly, I think I’m getting a little bougie because I don’t think I’ve ever been on a full Emirates flight before. I’ve always had at least the middle seat empty, and one time I actually had the entire row to myself.😍

Emirates Amenity Kit ✨ (And a True Story)

Before takeoff, the flight attendants came around with amenity kits in a cute little pouch. Inside:

  • toothbrush + toothpaste

  • socks

  • eye mask

  • ear plugs

  • and a bookmark

Love a useful pouch. Especially when, after you land, your wallet gets stolen, and you need something to use as a wallet. (Yes, that is a true story, but more on that later.)

Dinner Above the Clouds 🍝 + 🌠 Starry Ceiling

Once we reached cruising altitude, we were served drinks and dinner. And honestly? It was delicious. Not just “good for airplane food” — genuinely tasty.

Here’s what I ordered:
Pasta rice with meatballs in red sauce. So yummy.

Plus:

  • mini salad

  • bread roll

  • mini pretzel braids

  • a Kind bar

  • chocolate salted caramel mousse (the BEST flavor)

And a bottle of water automatically included — a small detail that feels huge if you get dehydrated easily on flights like I do.

Then the lights went off and the Emirates experience leveled up again

The ceiling lights turned into a starry night sky — tiny sparkling points like constellations overhead.

It’s pretty and calming, and it makes the plane feel more like a cozy night environment than a flying metal tube.

Breakfast + Too Many Snacks 😂

In the morning, breakfast arrived, and once again, Emirates delivered.

I got:

  • eggs

  • hashbrowns

  • sausage

  • beans and a tomato slice

  • bread roll + bread stick

  • cream cheese

  • fruit bowl

  • breakfast bowl (mango, yogurt, honey, coconut, and toasted rolled oats)

  • juice drink

  • cinnamon cake

So many snacks that I took half of them with me to eat later.

After the meal, the flight attendants collected our pillows and blankets early — which made it much easier to find and organize my things before landing. A tiny detail, but so helpful.

Landing in Athens 🇬🇷

And then… we landed in Greece!
Another reason I love flying Emirates: they fly direct to Athens from the States. No exhausting layovers, no sprinting through airports — you just wake up, and you’re in Greece. The best feeling!

Final Thoughts

There are plenty of airlines that get you from Point A to Point B — but Emirates makes the journey feel like part of the trip.

Even in economy, it feels premium:

  • delicious meals

  • thoughtful details

  • calm lighting

  • amenity kits

  • and sometimes (if you’re lucky) that whole row to yourself 😉

If you’re flying long-haul to Greece, I highly recommend choosing Emirates if it’s an option.

It makes the trip feel special before you even arrive.
