During my recent trip to Athens, my brother and I stayed at a really cute apartment in Monastiraki just before our mother arrived in Greece.

While the apartment is slightly off the main hustle of central Athens, it’s still within walking distance to most major spots, making it a convenient base for exploring the city.

Location

The apartment is about a 5–10 minute walk from the Monastiraki metro line, 15–20 minutes to Syntagma Square, and roughly 20–25 minutes to the Acropolis Museum.

Being slightly out of the main tourist chaos meant it felt peaceful at times, yet still close enough to all the action.

The Space

This is a one-bedroom apartment with two additional couch/beds in the living area. I slept in the bedroom, which has a comfortable queen-size bed, while my brother used one of the couches.

The bathroom has a full-size shower, and the kitchen is fully equipped with a stovetop, oven, and refrigerator. There are even two coffee machines and plenty of utensils and dishes — perfect for longer stays where cooking is part of the plan.

We didn’t cook, but we did make good use of the fridge and freezer.

The Balcony & Views

The highlight of the apartment is definitely the balcony, which offers a stunning view of the Acropolis.

I loved starting my mornings out there, sipping coffee, and soaking in the soft city sounds as Athens woke up.

Noise & Practical Details

A small caveat: there’s a nightclub nearby that plays loud music at night. Luckily, it closed at 11 p.m. during our stay, but it was still noticeable from the bedroom.

Light sleepers should keep this in mind.

The Wi-Fi worked well after a slightly tricky login, and the air conditioning kept both the bedroom and living area cool during the hot afternoons.

The apartment also has an elevator — the classic old Greek style with no inner door, but it’s still a welcome alternative to climbing stairs!

Final Thoughts

Overall, I really enjoyed my stay at this Monastiraki apartment

Between the comfort, the balcony views, and the convenience of the location, it made for a memorable visit, and I would happily stay here again.
