There’s a reason islands like Santorini and Mykonos are what people picture when they think of Greece.
They’re iconic.

I haven’t personally been to either (yet), but I completely understand the draw. Some places are popular for a reason.
I would also put Zakynthos in this category. You see Navagio—also known as Shipwreck Beach—all over Instagram, and once you’re there, you realize just how much of an iconic destination it is.
There’s an energy to these islands. They’re lively, social, a little chaotic—but also unforgettable.
And if you go in expecting that, instead of fighting it, you’ll probably love them a lot more.

These are the islands you’ve probably never heard of—and that’s exactly the point.
Places like Amorgos, Folegandros, or even Aegina feel quieter, more local, and a little more untouched.
They’re perfect if you want your trip to feel less like a checklist and more like real life.
Days here tend to be slower.
Mornings stretch out.
You find yourself going to the same taverna more than once.
