Before leaving Greece, my mom, uncle, and I spent a couple of days in Athens and booked this apartment as our home base.
The original plan was actually for me to stay here at the start of my Greece trip with my grandfather, but he ended up having a medical emergency right before the trip (he’s totally fine now). My mom switched the reservation to the end of our travels instead, and honestly, it worked out perfectly.
If you’re looking for a place that works for pretty much anyone—families, couples, remote workers, travelers with mobility needs—this apartment is a genuinely solid option.
It has an elevator, a full kitchen, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and the star of the show: a wraparound balcony with a jaw-dropping view of the Parthenon.
Let’s get into it!
📍 Location: Koukaki — Steps From Everything
The apartment is in the Koukaki neighborhood, which has quickly become one of my favorite areas in central Athens.
It’s lively, but not chaotic, full of cafés, bakeries, and restaurants, and has that perfect “local yet walkable to everything” vibe.
Walking distances:
- Under 5 minutes to the Acropolis Museum
- Under 5 minutes to the Acropolis archeological site entrance
- 10–12 minutes to the Plaka neighborhood
- Close to public transport if you need it, though we mostly walked
The building itself feels secure and well-maintained, and the balcony views honestly make it feel like you’re living in a postcard.
🏡 Apartment Layout & First Impressions
The apartment has:
- Two bedrooms
- Two full bathrooms
- A full kitchen
- A washer
- A living room with a sofa bed
- A wraparound balcony with access from both bedrooms and the living room
It felt clean, modern, and spacious—easily enough room for multiple people to spread out and not feel like they’re living on top of each other.
🛏 Bedrooms: Comfortable, Spacious, and Quiet
Smaller Bedroom
The “smaller” bedroom isn’t actually small. It has:
- A full-size bed
- En suite bathroom
- Balcony access
If an en suite bathroom is important to you, this is actually the better bedroom, even though it’s not the master.
Master Bedroom
The master bedroom has:
- A king-size bed
- Plenty of space
- Balcony access
- A bathroom… across the hall
Yes, weird. Totally functional, but odd. If you’re imagining rolling out of bed and into your en suite, this layout will surprise you.
Sleeping on the Sofa Bed
I actually slept in the living room on the couch. Surprisingly? Super comfortable. I was supposed to share the king-size bed with my mom, but I decided to sleep on the couch because it was so comfy.
Noise Level
Athens is a big city, but nighttime noise here was impressively minimal.
Granted, we were on Greek time and didn’t go to bed until midnight, but I also woke up at 5 a.m. (because I procrastinate packing… and because the Portland Timbers had a game I wanted to watch). Even at 5–7 a.m., the noise level was quiet.
Pro tip: You don’t need a VPN to watch MLS games on Apple TV while abroad.
🚿 Bathrooms: Clean, Modern, and Functional
I didn’t use the smaller en suite, but the main bathroom (the one across the hall from the master) was modern, clean, and spacious. A few notes:
Shower Design
Like a lot of Greek bathrooms, the shower has:
- Only half a glass wall
- No door
The water drains into the floor, but if you’re not careful, the whole bathroom can get wet.
Water Pressure & Temperature
Excellent water pressure and no temperature issues.
Washer & Drying Rack
One of my favorite perks: the apartment has a washer inside the bathroom.
Dryers aren’t common in Greece, so the apartment includes:
- A drying rack
- Clothespins
- Plenty of balcony space to hang things out in the sun
Perfect for long stays or end-of-trip laundry.
The Cockroach Moment
Okay, full honesty: there was one cockroach in the bathroom during our stay.
However:
- This is extremely normal in Athens
- The apartment provided bug spray, which solved the problem immediately
I don’t hold this against the apartment at all—it’s just part of city life in Greece.

🍳 Kitchen: Small but Equipped
We didn’t do much cooking because we were busy eating our way through Athens, but the kitchen had everything you’d need for simple meals.
Included:
- Full-size fridge (amazing for leftovers)
- Two-burner stove
- Coffee maker
- Electric kettle
- Plenty of dishes, glasses, and utensils
If you’re staying more than a couple of nights or traveling with kids, the kitchen is super convenient.
💻 Workspace & Wi-Fi
There’s a small desk/table with stools that works for eating or working, but I honestly preferred working from the balcony.
And yes—the Wi-Fi delivered.
I streamed an entire MLS game on my iPad with zero buffering at 5 a.m., so that should tell you everything you need to know.
🌅 The Balcony & THAT Parthenon View
This is the reason you book this place. Full stop.
The wraparound balcony gives you a panoramic view of the Parthenon and Acropolis, and it’s equally stunning:
- In the morning light
- In the afternoon sun
- And especially at night, when the Acropolis is lit up
On our last night, I sat outside with a beer and just stared at the illuminated Parthenon—something I’ve seen countless times but never get tired of.
From this balcony, it hits different. It feels close, elevated, almost cinematic.
If you love views, photography, or just need a moment of “wow” during your trip, this balcony gives it to you.
❄️ A/C, Elevator, & Other Practical Stuff
Air Conditioning
Worked perfectly. After walking around in the Athenian heat, coming back to a cool apartment felt like a blessing.
Elevator
Like many older Greek elevators:
- Small
- No interior door (you can see the floors go by)
- Slightly quirky but totally functional
If you’re not used to old European elevators, it might feel odd, but it beats carrying luggage up multiple flights of stairs.
👍 Pros
- Incredible Parthenon view
- Wraparound balcony
- Amazing location (Acropolis + museum + Plaka nearby)
- Reliable A/C and Wi-Fi
- Washer + drying rack (huge perk for travelers)
- Modern, clean interior
- Two real bedrooms + extra sleeping space
👎 Cons
- Small, old-style elevator (not a dealbreaker, just classic Greece)
- Saw one cockroach (normal for Athens, quickly handled)
- Master bedroom + master bathroom aren’t connected
- Kitchen is smaller—fine for light cooking but not gourmet meals
✨ Best For
- Remote workers (balcony workstation = 10/10)
- Groups of 2–5 people
- Families
- Travelers who want access to a kitchen
- Anyone who wants a great view without being in a super touristy area
⭐ Final Verdict
Rating: 9/10
I would absolutely stay here again.
It’s a bit of a pricier rental, but you’re paying for:
- A modern unit
- A prime location
- Comfortable layout
- And one of the best views of the Parthenon you can get without staying at a luxury hotel
Even after weeks in Greece, that balcony view stopped me in my tracks every time I stepped outside.
